What major mod can I do to a crappy Bmx?

I have a real crappy bmx bike. What kind of mods can i do to it so its original, doesnt look tacky and new? How much am i looking at? Thanks! Im thinking: New seat, Spray paint the frame or something. etc.

Bikes are often thrown out. Make up a simple flyer saying you need a fixable free bike. Have 100 printed, 2 to a page, and pass them out. Or advertise on Craigslist or both. Something would happen. Soon you'd have something worth selling..
