Where can I find free articles for for publishing without violating a copy right?

I have a small newspaper that I publish and give away for free. We print about 4000 copies a month so we are very small. I'm in need of good short articles to publish, but, I can't afford to pay for them. Where can I find articles like this? If I were to find and use some one else's article, is it OK as long as I give them the credit, or do I have to have permission first?

Best Answer:

Using anyone's work without permission constitutes a copyright violation, and copyright lawsuits aren't something you want to deal with when you're running something for free. Giving someone credit doesn't matter; it's their work, they own it, they decide what happens with it. One possible source for articles would be Associated Content: http://www.associatedcontent.com/ Check with the individual writer before publishing anything, though.
